Why This Fight Matters

Precedent One approval becomes the justification for the next tower. If this project slides through, it sets a dangerous template for oversized developments in neighborhoods across San Diego.

Coastal Context Our shoreline is not downtown. Scale matters. A 23- to 24-story tower at the edge of a beach neighborhood fundamentally changes the character and livability of Pacific Beach.

Infrastructure Strain Traffic, parking, emergency response, water supply, and streets are already stretched thin. This project would add significant pressure to systems that are struggling to keep up.

Public Process Decisions like this should not bypass meaningful scrutiny. The developer has deep pockets and experienced lawyers pushing the limits of what’s allowed under state law. Without a strong legal challenge, their version of the facts becomes the official record. City staff has already flagged multiple unresolved issues that must be addressed before any responsible approval.

This is an aggressive, out-of-scale development. If it’s approved, it becomes the template for what comes next.
