Our Mission
Neighbors for a Better California (NFABC) is a grassroots, nonpartisan coalition of everyday Californians rising up to reclaim our communities from investor-driven development and broken housing policies. We believe housing should be built for people, not profit — and we’re organizing across neighborhoods, political lines, and backgrounds to make that future a reality.
We fight for local control, livable neighborhoods, and development policies that reflect the unique character of California’s diverse communities. Through civic engagement and watchdog advocacy, we are holding politicians accountable, challenging developer-driven legislation, and pushing for real solutions that work for working families.
What we stand for.
🔹 Local Control, Not Sacramento Overreach
We oppose top-down housing mandates that ignore the realities of individual neighborhoods and silence community voices. Local planning should reflect local needs — not developer wish lists.
🔹 Sensible, Community-Driven Growth
Yes, we need more housing — but it must be truly affordable, infrastructure-ready, and context-sensitive. Reckless density without public input or accountability only fuels displacement and gentrification.
🔹 Transparency & Accountability
We expose how policies are written for special interests — and we hold agencies like SANDAG and elected officials accountable. Housing solutions should be shaped by residents, not real estate donors.
🔹 Strong, Stable Neighborhoods
From zoning to safety, we advocate for community-based solutions that preserve the character, accessibility, and livability of the places we call home.
Why it matters
Every week, new legislation and planning decisions threaten to rezone, densify, or transform neighborhoods — often without any meaningful public input.
While politicians claim to solve the housing crisis, too many are taking campaign checks from real estate interests while pushing luxury development without affordability, infrastructure, or public oversight.
NFABC exists to shift the balance. We give Californians a platform, a voice, and a movement to protect what we love about our towns, cities, and streets — and to build a system that works for us all.

We can’t do this alone. It will take homeowners, renters, parents, students, and seniors — from every walk of life — to stand together and demand a housing system rooted in community, not corruption.
