THESE LINES: REFRAME THE DEBATE “We’re not anti-housing. We’re for the right kind of housing — affordable, sustainable, and community-serving.” “This tower offers 139 hotel units, 64 luxury apartments, and only 5 truly affordable units. That’s not equity — that’s a loophole.” “We can support new housing and oppose this developer giveaway. Those aren’t mutually exclusive.” FIND COMMON GROUND “If you believe in climate action and fair housing, you should be asking why this project gets a pass on affordability, fire safety, and infrastructure.” “YIMBYs and neighbors should be allies — but only when projects actually serve the people, not just profits.” PLANT A SEED “You’re here for housing justice. So are we. But ask yourself — why does this tower prioritize vacation rentals and luxury units instead of families?” “Transit-oriented development shouldn’t be code for deregulation. It should mean affordable, livable, walkable communities.” IF YOU FEEL THE SITUATION IS ESCALATING PLEASE Stay calm. Say: “We’re here to share facts and protect our neighborhood.
